He made his striking first feature film in 1979, <em>Family Nest<\/em>. In 1982, <em>The Prefab People<\/em> received a special mention in Locarno. He filmed his brilliant <em>S\u00e1t\u00e1ntang\u00f3<\/em>, a 450-minute adaptation featured in the Berlinale\u2019s Forum section 1994 where it won the Caligari award. In 2000, <em>Werckmeister Harmoniak<\/em> won the Grand Prize at the Hungarian Film Week, and <em>The Man from London<\/em>, an adaptation of \u201cL\u2019Homme de Londres\u201d by Georges Simenon that ran in competition in Cannes in 2007. Two years earlier, the festival celebrated Tarr as \u201cForeign Cineaste of the Year\u201d.\u00a0 In 2011 <em>The Turin Horse<\/em>, his latest feature film, received the Jury Grand Prix Silver Bear and FIPRESCI Award in Berlin and was nominated for the European Film Awards. He was also named a Chevalier dans l\u2019Ordre des Arts et Lettres.
