a channeling for Encuentros de Pamplona 72-22 by Eve Sussman, Simon Lee, Volkmar Klien
All the reporters laughed and took pictures…is an impromptu performance that utilizes “channeling” and is organized via a new smartphone platform: SADISS. “Channeling” means you listen to a spoken word audio file (in Spanish, Basque or English) and repeat the words out loud immediately as you hear them. SADISS sets up a network of channels offering audience members –– essentially turned performers –– to take on different roles in the communal communication of a narrative.
The narrative for All the reporters…will be drawn from daily life in Pamplona now and in 1972, the year of the first Encuentros. We deliver happenings from the past and the present, straight into our audience’s ears. The audience members, instructed by the voice from the smartphone, carry out the dialogues, monologues, and actions as they are streamed through the network. a
