Verano 1993 (2017) is Carla’s autobiographical début. It premièred at the 2017 Berlinale, where it won the prize for best first work and the Generation Kplus jury grand prix. The film has garnered more than 30 awards worldwide, represented Spain at the Oscars, was nominated for the EFA and won 3 Goyas, including best new director. Simón won the emerging talent accolade at Women in Motion in Cannes 2018. Her latest shorts are Después también y Correspondencias, a conversation by letter with Dominga Sotomayor, premièred at Visions du Réel, New York Film Festival and the San Sebastián film festival, among others. Alcarràs, her second feature, had its international première in the Official Section of the 72nd Berlinale, where it won the Golden Bear.
