Since ancient times, the voice has been a place of encounter with human beings, a way of situating oneself in nature, a means of summoning. In this section, we will consider the evolution of our voice, from the first ancestral sounds to the present day, when the Greek phoné, which is essentially still our voice, began to take on meaning in the public space, in the city. The idea here is to analyse and think about how that voice that spread throughout the polis has been gradually absorbed by social and political organisation until it has become subjugated, reduced and supplanted by the devices that speak to us mechanically through artificial intelligence.
