Human rights activist, journalist and researcher specialising in migrations and human trafficking, in particular of women and children. Based in Tangier (Morocco), she founded the group Caminando Fronteras which supports communities of sub-Saharan migrants during their migratory process and also reports human rights abuses occurring on Spain’s southern border.
Part of her activism consists of informing Sea Rescue Services and urging them to save drifting and sinking boats. In recognition of this work, she has received many human rights awards, among them the International Peace Bureau Prize. However, she has also been arraigned in both Morocco and Spain on charges of supporting illegal immigration, though these cases were eventually shelved.
In the field of advice on human rights, she has worked as an independent consultant for Women’s Link Worldwide, Save the Children and Alianza por la Solidaridad. As a journalist she has been published in eldiario.es, Público and Periodismo Humano. She is the author of the book Mujer de frontera. Defender el derecho a la vida no es delito (Península, 2020).
