Iosu Zapata

An artist born in Pamplona in 1981, Iosu’s work focuses on subjects related to abandoned spaces, the peripheries, the marginal and the urban landscape and its relationship with nature. His scope of action embraces both plastic and sound art.

 He began his training in Iruña Cormenzana’s workshops in 1991. He studied graphic design and completed the monographic courses on drawing and painting at the Pamplona Art School. He has won several awards and recognitions (Encuentros, Jóvenes Artistas) and has links with a range of artist collectives in Pamplona and Mexico. His work has been exhibited in Spain, the Philippines, France and Mexico. He lived in Mexico for a number of years and developed projects there such as La Chabola Nómada, exhibited in Museo del Chopo, Polyforum Siqueiros, Centro Cultural de España and Museo de la Mujer.
