Born in Pamplona in 1979, Fermín is an artist who uses diverse languages –drawing, photography, installation and video– to explore everyday circumstances drawn from the daily routines of public and social spaces, basically the street and the Internet. ‘A euphoric illusionism, devoid of any power, which, through productive use of the absurd, enthusiastic (not ingenuous) precariousness and surpassing the norm, posits works defined by a non-believing and humorous conceptualism which focuses on art’s capacity for micro-political impact. Or, to put it another way, his work consciously forces the ridiculous within the parodic and antiheroic mission of producing temporary cracks in our rhythm of life, thus altering what we thought was safe,’ as David Armengol puts it.
He has exhibited at the Manifesta 11 biennial, MAZ in Zapopan, Artium, Musac, CA2M, Museo Oteiza, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Centro Botín and La Casa Encendida, and in galleries such as Moisés Pérez de Albéniz, Travesía Cuatro, Nogueras Blanchard and Bacelos. He has also worked with Consonni, 1646 in The Hague and HIAP in Helsinki.
