Hartmut Rosa

Hartmut Rosa, born in 1965 in the Black Forest, has lectured in general and theoretical sociology at the Friedrich Schiller university in Jena since 2005, and since 2013 has been director of the Max Weber college of the university of Erfurt. Before this he lectured at the university of Augsburg, at the university of Duisburg-Essen and at the New School for Social Research in New York. In 2016 he was guest lecturer at the FMSH in Paris. He gained his doctorate in 1997 at the Humboldt university in Berlin and his professorship in Jena in 2004. In 2006 he won the fundamental research prize of the state of Thuringia, in 2016 the Tractatus essay prize in 2018 the Erich Fromm prize and the Watzlawik Ring of Honour. He directs several research projects, among them those of the DFG-sponsored research group “Landnahme, Acceleration, Activation. Dynamics and (De)stabilisation of modern growth societies”. His books have been translated into numerous languages and published all over the world.
