The question of the origin of thought and of language – and therefore the question of the origin of what it is to be human – is closely linked to the ability acquired by the hand to make precise gestures. Thought and gesture have always gone hand in hand, so to speak. They even share what is beyond them: just as the manual gesture leaves behind it the mark of its inexactness, the word leaves its trace in its enunciation – what is said will never be identical to what is thought. An idea by Asier Mendizabal with Patricia Esquivias, Lisa Tan and Johanna Gustafsson Fürstin, in which they will put visual arts together with dialogue over two days.

This double bill presents new pieces by Lisa Tan and Patricia Esquivias, in which hands and hand gestures channel the narrative, drawing it along like a thread, like a line, like a river.
