Elina Viluma

Latvian soprano Elina Viluma-Helling is based in Vienna and specializes in contemporary music while maintaining an active repertoire in early music and jazz. After studies in Riga, Graz, and Vienna, she has collaborated with leading ensembles including Klangforum Wien, Schallfeld Ensemble, Between Feathers, and Ensemble XXI. Jahrhundert, and is a member of the internationally renowned vocal ensemble Cantando Admont.

As an internationally active performer, she has appeared at concert halls, opera houses, and festivals including the Salzburger Festspiele, Lucerne Festival, Louth Contemporary Music Festival, Wiener Konzerthaus, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Kölner Philharmonie, Teatro Colón, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Münchener Biennale, and the Onassis Stegi (Athens), among others. A dedicated interpreter of new music, she has premiered works by composers including Beat Furrer and Klaus Lang. Recent highlights include her house debut at Opernhaus Zürich as Mauricia in the world premiere of Beat Furrer’s Das grosse Feuer and the premiere of Litanei for soprano, string quartet, and clarinet at the Louth Contemporary Music Festival. She is featured on the award-winning Furrer 70 box set, recipient of the 2025 Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
