Composer, educator and researcher.
Liza Lim is a music composer, educator and researcher whose work focuses on collaborative, transcultural practices. The roots of beauty, the effects of time in the Anthropocene, the sensoriality of the ecological connection and feminine spiritual lineages are central issues in her artistic body of work. Her work stands out for an extreme diversity of formats and approaches, taking in pieces in all solo and orchestral formats, with audiovisual media and even five operas. Lim has received many commissions from the world’s leading soloists, ensembles and orchestras, and is professor of composition at the Sculthorpe Chair of Australian Music at Sydney Conservatorium of Music. She was composer in residence at the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study in 2021-22 and was chosen as a member of the Berlin Academy of Arts in 2022. Her music is published by Ricordi Berlin.
