Raquel Bouso

Teacher of intercultural and Asian philosophy.

Raquel Bouso lectures in Asian thought and religions, specialising in Japanese philosophy and Buddhism, at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, where she received her doctorate with a thesis on the notion of emptiness in the thought of Nishitani Keiji (1900-90). Among others, she has translated works by Nishitani, Ueda Shizuteru and Toshihiko Izutsu. As well as various articles, she has published El zen (2008; 2012), co-edited FJP vol. 6, Cross-Currents and Confluences, with J. W. Heisig (2009), La filosofía japonesa en sus textos, with J. W. Heisig, T. P. Kasulis and J. C. Maraldo (2016), and Tetsugaku Companion to Ueda Shizuteru, with A. Loughnane and R. Müller (2022). She is president of the European Network of Japanese Philosophy (ENOJP) and a researcher with MUSHIN’EN 無心円 – Intercultural Philosophy Research Group.
