Mursego
Maite Arroitajauregi, born in Eibar in 1977, graduated in the cello from the Senior Conservatory in Vitoria-Gasteiz. After being part of different ensembles (including Anari, Lisabö and Xabier Montoia, among others), in 2009 she set up Mursego, her solo product, which has gone through different forms on stage. In recent years she has focused particularly on composing film music, having worked on films like La consagración de la primavera (2022), by Fernando Franco, and Sobre todo de noche (2023), by Víctor Iriarte.
Particularly prolific is her partnership with Aránzazu Calleja, with whom she composed the soundtrack for Akelarre (2020), by Pablo Agüero, and Irati, by Paul Urkijo. For the first of these she won the Goya and Platino awards for Best Original Music, and the second was nominated for the prizes for Best Original Song and Best Original Music.
SOUND IN THE BODY
We’ll be analysing the multiple possibilities our body offers us to compose experimental sound pieces based on practice.
From where and how can we create sound material for construction?
From self-listening, “deep listening” and re-reading to improvisation.
In this respect, and following my practice in recent years, we’ll be working on the relationship between image and sound.
How can we listen by looking, how can we look by listening?
This workshop is part of the Encuentros pathway “The Voices We Were”.
