Film maker and lecturer. Director of Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola (EQZE), the international centre for thought, research and experimental practice concerning the past, present and future of film.
Doctor of Humanities from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona (special doctorate prize), graduate in Communication from the Universidad de Navarra and in Film Directing from ECAM. Together with Sergio Oksman, he made Notes on The Other (2009), A Story for the Modlins (2012) and O futebol (2015).
He founded the Punto de Vista festival and was its artistic director until 2009. Member of the 2021 Cannes festival jury (Palme d’Or for short films and Cinéfondation).
He edited the publications Ver sin Vertov. (1955-2005) Cincuenta años de no ficción en Rusia y la URSS, The Man Without the Movie Camera. El cine de Alan Berliner, Las formas de la Estalgia and Mi abuelo murió leyendo a Pushkin.
