Cristina Rivera Garza 

Writer, translator and literary critic.

The author of novels, short stories and poetry for which she has won numerous awards. Highlights among her recent publications include Me llamo cuerpo que no está. Poesía completa (Lumen, 2024), Autobiografía de Algodón (Random House Spain, 2022) and El invencible verano de Liliana (Random House Spain, 2021), translated into English as Liliana’s Invincible Summer (Hogarth, 2023) and candidate for the National Book Award 2023 for non-fiction. She is an M.D. Anderson Distinguished Professor and founder of the doctoral programme in Creative Writing in Spanish at the department of Hispanic studies at the University of Houston. She has earned a MacArthur fellowship, a María Zambrano fellowship at the University of Barcelona and has been DAAD artist in residence in Berlin.
