Irene Galindo Quero

Composer, born in Granada in 1985. She studied in her home city with Pedro Guajardo, at the Musikhochschule Freiburg with Cornelius Schwehr and Mathias Spahlinger, and at HfMT Köln with Johannes Schöllhorn. Since 2012 she has studied Hindustani classical music (the sarod) with Pandit Brij Narayan. She taught at CSMA Aragón from 2014 to 2016. Her work has been recognised with grants and prizes from different eminent institutions, including the Alexander von Humboldt foundation, La Caixa-DAAD and Akademie Musiktheater Heute, and has been composer in residence at Brahmshaus Baden-Baden, Künstlerdorf Schöppingen and the Residencia de Estudiantes in Madrid. In 2015 she premièred her chamber opera A campo abierto at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid. 

In 2017 she wrote for the Opera Stabile in Hamburg, and as winner of the Neue Szenen III competitions she was commissioned for the Deutsche Oper Berlin’s Tischlerei. In 2019 she was awarded the Berlin-Rheinsberger Kompositionspreis. She is currently working on several stage projects with the poet Ángela Segovia.
