Marian Ochoa de Eribe

Translator and lecturer. In 2025, she received the National Award for Best Translation for Theodoros by Mircea Cărtărescu (Impedimenta). She holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Deusto (Bilbao). After serving as a lecturer in Spanish Language and Literature at “Ovidius” University of Constanța (Romania) between 1993 and 1997, she began her career as a translator.

Notable among her work are some of the most representative authors of classic Romanian literature: Panait Istrati, Mihail Sebastian, and Mircea Eliade. Since 2009, she has focused almost exclusively on translating the complete works of Mircea Cărtărescu into Spanish. To this must be added female authors such as Gabriela Adameșteanu, Tatiana Țîbuleac, Dora Pavel, Valentina Șcerbani, and several plays by Gianina Cărbunariu, as well as works by Radu Pavel Gheo and Norman Manea. She has collaborated with publishing houses such as Pre-Textos, Acantilado, Impedimenta, and Siruela.
