He is professor of philosophy at the American University of Beirut. He is the author of Nihil Unbound: Enlightenment and Extinction (Palgrave 2007) and Fatelessness: Freedom and Fatality After Marx (Verso, forthcoming). He writes on Marx, critical theory, and post-Kantian European philosophy. He has also written about the work of the American philosopher Wilfrid Sellars and intends to dedicate a monograph to the study of his thought, exploring its points of congruence with that of Marx.
