Víctor Parra

He began studying violin in the Conservatoire of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and continued his studies with Gonçal Comellas in the Higher Conservatoire of the Liceo in Barcelona, where he received the highest grades.

In 1992 he received a grant to study a “Master of Music” and “Artist Diploma” at Yale University (USA), extending his training with the violinist Erick Friedman. He obtained a grant as a member of the resident string quartet at Yale, where he received classes from teachers of the Tokyo String Quartet.

He won awards in the “Mostra de Música de Cámara de la Generalitat de Catalunya”, the “Concurs Germans Claret” and the “Concurs de Cambra Sofía Puche” competitions.

As a professional he played as first violin, and on occasions soloist of the Orquesta de Cámara del Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona). He has played with a number of ensembles in the US, such as the Philharmonia Orchestra of Yale, the New Music New Haven contemporary music ensemble and the Yale Chamber Players. As well as recordings made with Trio Gerhard (Complete Chamber Music of Enrique Granados, Xavier Monsalvatge and Roberto Gerhard for “ Discoby” and “La Ma de Guido”), he has recorded for the Nimbus, Elkar, Harmonia Mundi and Crystal Records labels, as well as several recordings for radio and TV.

He is currently first violin of the Chamber Orchestra of the Auditorium of Zaragoza, Grupo Enigma”, “Espacio Sinkro”, “Plural Ensemble” and “Laboratorio Klem”. He is also a member of the “Bandart” Chamber Orchestra directed by Gordan Nikolic.

He has also taught a number of courses all over Spain and is a tenured teacher in the “Jesús Guridi” Vocational Conservatoire in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
