Emilio Gentile, a scholar specialising in fascism, will explain in an interview the features of a phenomenon that is slippery to define but nevertheless often (wrongly) invoked. For this professor at La Sapienza University in Rome, studying fascism means thinking about the political nature of mass society in the modern age, about the role of the individual and the group, about the fragility of human dignity, the aggressiveness of the lust for power and the vulnerability of liberal democracy at times when the fanaticism of hate is cultivated as a noble human virtue
