In one of his last writings, philosopher Immanuel Kant highlighted the need for philosophy in the face of the dogmatic power of the Prussian state. Today, the so-called “conflict of the faculties” has shifted towards generative artificial intelligence companies and ways of automating knowledge. The faculties at issue are no longer academic, but run through our own bodies, minds and society as a whole. In this conversation we will discuss the new forms of censorship and technological superstition, algorithmic uniformity and digital monoculture, and the possibility of a new post-European humanism to overcome the opposition between the human and the technological with a view to a new planetary thought.
