Xavier Nueno

He researches the history of knowledge in its scientific, artistic, sensory and technological dimensions. He holds a doctorate in Visual and Media Studies from the University of Harvard, and since 2023 he has been a researcher at the Laboratory for History and Theories of Architecture, Technology and Media at EPFL in Lausanne. He currently coordinates the Swiss National Science Foundation research project “Datacenters: An Environmental History of Information” (2025-2028).  His book El arte del saber ligero (Editorial Siruela, 2023) explores a subversive minority tradition that since ancient times has warned of the dangers of being buried under too many books. He has also published Napa(s). Persistir en lo inacabado (Ediciones La Bahía, 2017) and Chaque Mercredi Caracas (Editions HS, 2020), a collection of pictures examining the relationship between colonialism and mass tourism, which won the Les plus beaux livres suisses de l’année prize in 2020. In 2025-26, he won the Finestres foundation essay scholarship and is completing the preparation of his new book, Cómo el conocimiento perdió el juicio.
