4Sonora is a Madrid-based string quartet devoted to recovering, experimenting with and promoting the 20th and 21st-century repertoires, paying special attention to Spanish and Latin American creativity. Following their début at the 14th Festival de Ensembles at the Teatros del Canal in Madrid, the quartet were chosen as resident ensemble at the Potries festival, the Rafelbunyol international festival, CIMCA in Cantabria and the Madrid international contemporary music festival in 2024 and 2025, returning to the Teatros del Canal with a project devoted to the centenary of György Ligeti.
In the 2025/26 season, the ensemble closed the string quartet cycle run by the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando and presented a themed programme devoted to the composer Francisco Coll at the Juan March foundation, as well as taking part in the Basque Festival Musikagileak and giving masterclasses at Musikene, the Basque Country music conservatory. Their upcoming commitments include their return in the 2026/27 season to the Teatros del Canal, the Juan March foundation, Musikene in San Sebastián and the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando, as well as making their début in the Ciclo Kuraia in Bilbao, HKAPA in Hong Kong, the Espacio Turina in Seville and the Encuentros de Pamplona.
