María Sánchez

Veterinarian and writer. She works with native breeds at risk of extinction, advocating alternative forms of production and relating to the land, such as agroecology, grazing and extensive livestock farming. She features regularly on the radio and other media, talking about literature, feminism, rural culture and territory. She coordinates the projects Las entrañas del texto, devoted to creative processes, and Almáciga, a collective seedbed of words from rural settings in the different languages of the territory. 

She is author of the books Cuaderno de campo, Tierra de mujeres, Fuego la sed and Almáciga. Her work has been translated into different languages. Among other accolades, she has won the National Youth Prize, the Princess of Girona Arts and Letters Prize, the Medal of Andalusia for Environmental Merit and the Julio Camba Afundación International Prize for journalism.
