Victoria Cirlot

Emeritus professor of the Pompeu Fabra University, she is a scholar of mediaeval culture and literature. She has undertaken several translations of Arthurian novels such as Perlesvaus or Li Hauz Livres du Graal. Her books devoted to Arthurian novels include Figuras del destino. Mitos y símbolos de la Europa medieval (Siruela 2005, 2023) and Grial Poética y mito. Siglos XII-XV (Siruela 2014, 2024). In the area of mediaeval mysticism, she has worked on Hildegard of Bingen (Vida y visiones de Hildegard von Bingen, Siruela, 1997, 2023), as well as other women mystical writers (La mirada interior. Escritoras místicas y visionarias de la Edad Media, Siruela, together with Blanca Garí, 1999, 2025). She has worked on the visionary phenomenon in comparative studies of the Middle Ages and the 20th century: Hildegard von Bingen y la tradición visionaria de Occidente (Herder, 2005), La visión abierta. El mito del Grial y el surrealismo (Siruela, 2010) and Visión en rojo. Abstracción e informalismo en el Libro de las revelaciones de Julana de Norwich (Siruela, 2019). She is also the author of Luces del grial and Ariadna abandonada. Friedrich Nietzsche trabaja en el mito (Alpha Decay, 2018 & 2022). Her last book is entitled Marginalia (Vaso Roto). She is editor of the series “El Árbol del Paraíso”, published by Siruela.
