Miren Agur Meabe

She won the Critics’ Prize in 2001 and 2011 for her books of poetry El código de la piel and Espuma en las manos, as well as the National Poetry Prize in 2021 for Cómo guardar ceniza en el pecho, all of these originally written in Basque. Her most important prose works are the novel Un ojo de cristal and the volume of short stories Quema de huesos. In 2025 she published the novel written in poems, Amorante frantsesa (The French Lover).

In literature for young people, she has won the Euskadi prize for young people’s literature three times, the Mikel Zarate prize and two IBBY diplomas of honour.

She also works in literary translation, having won the Vitoria-Gasteiz translation prize twice. She takes part in numerous international events and is a member of the Basque Language Academy.
